The core of the definition is the arrangement: a working surface at a seated position, flanked or accompanied by storage, and augmented by a mirror. The typical user interacts with the vanity while seated, which means the standard working height hovers between 29 and 32 inches (740 to 810 mm). This is lower than a kitchen or bathroom counter, which is usually built for standing work. Ergonomics dictate the overall form.
