Every night, in kitchens across the country, the same scene plays out. A parent, exhausted from a day of work, asks a simple question: "Do you have homework?" The child, sitting in front of a tablet, mutters, "No." The parent knows this is not true. The parent has seen the homework app. The parent says, "I saw your math worksheet." The child's posture changes. The air in the room gets tense. And within three minutes, you are not discussing math. You are discussing the child's character, and they are discussing your unfairness.
You have tried the advice. You have read the blog posts. You have sat next to your child, patiently walking them through every problem, hoping that your presence would keep them focused.
