This is the book I wish I'd had when I started my installation company three years ago. It nails the material science without being a textbook, and the chapter on private labeling directly changed how I source my product. I've already used the anchor pattern guidelines on three jobs. It reads like the author has actually been on a ladder with a drill. Essential for anyone serious about the trade.

I run a mid-sized facility and bought this hoping for a real spec guide, which it mostly is. The chapter on mounting systems and anchor bolts was genuinely useful—I caught that my current contractor used the wrong bolt pattern. My main gripe is that the business chapter, while informative, feels a bit disconnected from the practical core. It's a solid reference, but not the end-all, especially if you're already experienced.

Solid handbook overall. I appreciated that it didn't try to sell me anything and just gave me the numbers—fire ratings, density, vinyl thickness. The troubleshooting section on vinyl peeling has already saved me a call to a repair guy. It loses a star for me because the glossary is a little basic and some of the FAQs repeat what was said in earlier chapters. Still, worth having on the shelf if you maintain a court.

It's a decent primer, especially if you've never bought this stuff before. The framing of liability and code inspections opened my eyes to what I was missing. But I was hoping for a bit more depth on comparative testing data between brands. The author implies certain tests but doesn't give hard numbers. It's a fine starting point, but I found myself wanting more appendices or spec tables.

I bought this as a contractor looking to add hoop padding installation to my services. The installation chapter is clear enough to follow, and the torque specs and anchor patterns were a welcome change from vague manufacturer instructions. My hesitation is that the 'business' chapters feel calculated with a lot of overhead—not napkin math. It's a good handbook, but I think the title overpromises on the 'complete' part.

Really practical for our crew. We replaced the padding on a few outdoor park courts and the water intrusion section alone prevented us from using the wrong type of foam. The maintenance checklist in Chapter 5 is now laminated in our workshop. I pulled one star only because I wished the photos were better—for a visual installation topic, there aren't many diagrams. Text descriptions are clear, but diagrams would have pushed it to five.

It's a well-organized handbook, readable and professional. The chapter on standards and inspection compliance was the most valuable part for me, as our school district is about to redo all our high school gyms. I used the cost breakdown tables in my budget proposal to the board. I just didn't find much new information on the premium materials section—it seemed a bit of a summary of what I already knew. Three and a half, but I'll round down to three.
