Bruno, a giant of a man with a gentle voice, keeps a kestrel in a back room of the cabaret, using it to intimidate troublemakers. When a stranger—a tiny woman in a fur coat—whispers that she knows he poisoned his own father's falcons to inherit the estate, Bruno's carefully built world begins to crack. In 1970s Argentina, Bruno is a vineyard owner, and a journalist arrives to write about his past. But the journalist is a detective under investigation for corruption, and he's been tailing Bruno for a decade. The twist: Bruno has been feeding the detective false leads, making the detective the true subject of the investigation. As past and present converge, Bruno must decide how much of his soul he's willing to trade for freedom.
